Ralph Valladares (July 31, 1936 Guatemala-November 13, 1998) also known as The Guatemalan Flyer, Little Ralphie or Ralphie Valladares was a Guatemalan roller skater.
Ralph Valladares started roller skating at the age of five and by the age of 11, he became a professional roller skater. He began touring and performing in various roller skating shows and circuses around the world. He gained popularity for his spectacular jumps and acrobatics on wheels.
Valladares is considered one of the greatest roller skaters of all time and won numerous awards throughout his career. He was a 16-time world champion in artistic roller skating and won seven consecutive Pan American Games gold medals.
In addition to roller skating, Valladares was also a successful businessman. He opened several roller rinks in Guatemala and founded the Guatemalan Federation of Roller Skating. He was also a philanthropist and established the Ralph Valladares Foundation to support the education and health of underprivileged children in Guatemala.
Sadly, Valladares passed away in 1998 due to a heart attack while coaching his team at a skating competition in Brazil. He was posthumously inducted into the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame in 2006.
