Ramesh Sippy is best known for his work on the critically acclaimed and commercially successful film Sholay (1975), which is widely regarded as one of the greatest Indian films of all time. He has directed several other successful films including Shaan (1980), Shakti (1982), and Saagar (1985).
Sippy began his career as an assistant director, working on films such as Mere Apne (1971) and Andaz (1971). He made his directorial debut with the film Andaz Apna Apna (1994), which did not perform well at the box office initially but has since become a cult classic.
