Geraldine Fitzgerald

Geraldine Fitzgerald (November 24, 1913 Greystones-July 17, 2005 Upper East Side) also known as Geraldine Mary Fitzgerald was an Irish actor and theatre director. She had two children, Michael Lindsay-Hogg and Susan Scheftel.

Geraldine Fitzgerald began her acting career with the Abbey Theatre in Dublin before moving onto the stage in London's West End. She eventually made her way to Hollywood where she starred in numerous films including "Dark Victory", "Wuthering Heights", and "The Strange Affair of Uncle Harry". She was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in "Wuthering Heights". Later in life, Fitzgerald returned to the theater, directing plays on and off Broadway. She was also a founding member of the Irish Repertory Theatre in New York City. In addition to her acting and directing career, Fitzgerald was an advocate for civil rights and was involved in various organizations working towards racial and gender equality.
