Sigfrit Steiner

Sigfrit Steiner (October 31, 1906 Basel-March 21, 1988 Munich) a.k.a. Siegfrit Steiner, Siegfried Albert Steiner or Sigfrid Steiner was a Swiss actor, film director and screenwriter.

Steiner began his career in theater in Switzerland and Germany before transitioning to film in the 1930s. He appeared in dozens of German-language films during the 1930s and 1940s, often playing suave leading men. In addition to his acting work, he directed and wrote several films, including "The White Hell of Pitz Palu" (1930), "The Immortal Heart" (1943), and "The Woman Who Once Was" (1945).

During World War II, Steiner worked in the German film industry, leading to controversy after the war. He was blacklisted and banned from working in the film industry in both Switzerland and Germany for several years. However, he eventually made a comeback in the 1950s and continued acting and directing until his retirement in the 1970s.

Steiner was married four times and had one daughter. He died in Munich in 1988 at the age of 81.
