El Hedi ben Salem (November 27, 2014 Morocco-November 27, 1976 Nîmes) a.k.a. El Hedi ben Salem m’Barek Mohammed Mustafa, Salem El Hedi, Salem El Heïdi, El Hedi Ben Salem, Elhedi Ben Salem or El Hedi ben Salem m' Barek Mohammed Mustafa was a Moroccan actor. He had two children, Abd El-Kader ben Salem and Hamdan ben Salem.

El Hedi ben Salem is best known for his collaboration with German director Rainer Werner Fassbinder, appearing in several of his films including "Ali: Fear Eats the Soul", "The Bitter Tears of Petra von Kant" and "Fox and His Friends". Before becoming an actor, Salem worked as a butcher in his hometown of Morocco. He moved to Germany in the late 1960s and began a career in film, often playing roles of tough and masculine characters. El Hedi ben Salem struggled with alcoholism and tragically took his own life in 1976 at the age of 39.
