Leo Slezak

Leo Slezak (August 18, 1873 Šumperk-June 1, 1946 Rottach-Egern) was a Czech actor and singer. He had two children, Walter Slezak and Margarete Slezak.

Leo Slezak was one of the most famous Wagnerian tenors of his time. He made his debut in Prague in 1896, and later on performed at the Vienna State Opera from 1909 to 1931. His vocal range, powerful voice and acting skills made him an acclaimed performer of the leading tenor roles in Wagner's operas, such as Tristan, Parsifal, Lohengrin and the title role in The Flying Dutchman. Slezak was also known for his interpretations of Italian and French opera roles, including Canio in Pagliacci and Don Jose in Carmen. Despite being born in Czechoslovakia, Slezak developed a successful career in Austria and Germany, and became a German citizen in 1924. He continued performing until his retirement in 1936, after which he lived in Rottach-Egern until his death in 1946.

Karel Zich

Karel Zich (June 10, 1949 Prague-August 13, 2004 Porto-Vecchio) was a Czech singer, musician, composer, guitarist and keyboard player.

Karel Zich began his music career in the early 1960s as a member of various bands, including Olympic and Mephisto. Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Zich remained one of the most popular Czech singers and musicians, known for his soulful voice and versatility across multiple genres.

In addition to his solo work, Zich also collaborated with several other artists, including the band Spirituál kvintet, with whom he released multiple albums. He also worked as a composer, writing music for films, television shows, and theater productions.

Tragically, Zich's life was cut short in 2004 when he died in a car accident while vacationing in Corsica. Despite his untimely death, his music continues to be beloved by many in the Czech Republic and beyond.
